I Would Describe Myself As

I have decided my profile needs a second edition. My first one led with a story about my loss of a cat. The results were somewhat less than hoped for. What might be more compelling? Perhaps the first profile was too sketchy. Maybe the idea that a guy who likes cats is a decent chap isn't that compelling. So now, a more complete dossier.

I am liberal and empathic. What you think and how you think and how you express thoughts matters to me. I'm looking for dialog, not soliloquy. I am romantic, not sentimental; romantic as in crying over Beethoven. What makes the romantic a romantic is the uplift of ecstasy, he utterly ignores the agony that would come from crashing down.


But making the romatic-sentimental distinction doesn’t get to the real problem. The real problem is how to sustain the relationship (damn, I hate that word) after the initial attraction. I have grown weary thinking about this. Chemistry is so weird. How can one predict whether two people will go on to live happily ever after? By the way, my mommy is heading for 102 so it looks like genetics may have dealt me a good aging hand. When you think about it those of our generation are not mid lifers, rather three-quarter, or more, lifers.
