i'm a middle school teacher.i work with students with special needs, and enjoy and am very committed to my job. One of the qualities that makes me the unique person i am is that I am a well-educated, intelligent, inquistive, articulate, bright woman, and a great conversationalist. i have lived by the ocean for the past 30 years, and it is a blessing and a way of life that is a part of me. i have a tremendous love of the outdoors...love to camp, hike, bicycle, wild amimal life/birdwatch, beachcomb, and enjoy nature and the outdoors in general. i maintain a healthy, energetic lifestyle by swimming laps, working out in the gym, and being vigilant about what i eat. i have an insatiable wanderlust to see new places. Take me to any tropical location with soft, white sand and warm, clear water and i am truely in paradise. i've seen much of europe and would like to spend more time in france, italy, spain and portugal in particular. new zealand is also on my list. san simeon, big sur and the northern california redwood state parks are where i love to camp. i was widowed after 23 years of marriage and recently ended a 10 year dometic partnership, so i haven't spent much time living alone...don't mind saying it's a little scary. My 25 year old son attends grad school in austin, tx. and is a huge source of joy and pride to me. personality-wise...it's really hard to talk about one's self in that sense, but - i see myself as very sensitive, sometimes a little oversensitive; strong-minded and opinionated, but open-minded and tolerant. i love romance and affection and warmth and holding hands and snuggling. i'm very open and outspoken about my feelings, and feel good about being an empathetic person.i was raised jewish, but don't follow organized religion. i do believe that we all have a responsibility to leave this world a better place than we found it, and that we must be willing to stand up and speak out for each other. as far as family, i'm the middle child of 3 girls. crossword puzzles, scrabble...anything to do with words fascinates me. friends/family call me "the wordmeister". i like to laugh heartily until it brings tears to my eyes, but it's not always easy to make me laugh. i cry at movies and sad novels.

silly fantasy, but i've always wanted to be a singer in a rock n' roll band...like a backup singer for springsteen and the E Street band. i'd like to be an equestrian. i'd like to study marine biology, except i get seasick. one huge wish i have is to bicycle through the loire valley of france and visit all the great chateaux.another is to scuba or snorkle the national underwater marine preserve off st. john's island in the virgin islands. i'm definitely not one of those people who has any desire to do extreme sports, but i'd like to learn how to raft a 1-man kayak down a river with some pretty big rapids. i've tried surfing and was a miserable failure, but i'd like to give it another ago. i'd like to some ocean kayaking...my kayaking experiences have been pretty tame. if i have the chance to try just half these things, i would have a very full life.

Mitt mål i livet är

it changes a lot as i change and grow, but there are some basics. i want someday to leave this earth and this world a better place than it was when i first found it. I want to be the best teacher i can be and have a lasting, positive affect on as many as my students as i can. as a parent, my goal is to be a model of integrity, love, strength, tolerance, independence, and self-esteem for my son. i'd also like to have a hell of a lot of fun, laugh heartily until i cry, and see bruce springsten live in concert as many times as i can. i want to travel to far and close corners of the world and swim in as many oceans and see as many tropical islands as i can...for sure the galapagos, seychelle, south pacific and virgin islands. i dream of being a grandmother someday not tooo far off and spoiling my grandchildren. i would like to become a more self-assured person, study yoga, learn to sing decently and become a better dancer. those are my goals for the present...always changing and adding to

the ocean: kayaking, body surfing, body boarding, beach combing/shell collecting, snorkeling, just splashing around. Hiking/camping. bicycling. outdoor concerts/festivals. dinner out, sitting and talking over a great cup of latte or glass of wine. river rafting (the best!). reading a great novel on the beach on a warm, sunny day. a ridiculously funny or terribly sad movie or novel. the ballet. seeing andrea bocelli perform. driving up the california coast, through the wine country and up to the giant redwood parks. dancing and not what worrying what i look like. the 3rd street promenade street entertainers and the santa monica pier...old fashioned pinball and miniature golf with my son. browsing barnes and noble or borders bookstores. that will all keep me pretty busy.

i haven't "looked" in a long time, but i was married for 23 years to a great guy, so i guess i'd look for a lot of the same qualities: sensitive, handsome, witty, bright, GENEROUS, kind, charming, gentlemanly, an avaricious reader, world traveler, curious and inquisitive, soft and gentle or strong and tough, depending on the situation. Tolerant and accepting, never mean or small-minded; athletic, active and energetic. warm and affectionate, passionate and sexy, open and honest with your feelings, someone i can trust.
