I Would Describe Myself As
Friendship makes no demands. It honors its commitments, it has no hidden agenda, and is the spark that companionship is built on ...
As I look over the past years of my life, it seems like only yesterday that I was car-pooling the children to school, sports events, going for weekly allergy shots, PTA meetings, HS graduations, saving for college; planning weddings, and now the grandchildren. Where did the time go? I remember when I was just a young girl myself with dreams of what I thought life would be like when I grew-up. Well, here I am, the children are grown and living their own lives; and now it’s my turn and I am still in awe of what that really means to me. As the seasons have begun to change, and the things that I planned to do when the children grew-up don’t seem to have the same appeal as they did when I first put them on my to-do list. In my 20’s I was busy exploring the wonders of life. In my 30’s I often juggled the challenges and responsibilities for the choices that I had made; and in my 40's I began to expand my boundaries in preparation for my future. My 50’s were a portal between the present and the past where I started to define my place in the world. I must be a late bloomer, because my 60’s became a turning point to embrace my life in preparation for my 70's; and hopefully meet someone who might like to enjoy having a female friend to share some of the quieter, gentler, more meaningful pleasures together -- the beauty of dining on the balcony enjoying the landscape and watching a beautiful sunrise or sunset in the background. Strolling hand and hand in the rain cuddled under a golf umbrella; driving in the country and stopping for lunch; downsizing a garage or storage unit to donate to charity, or just spending the first snow of the season together with a warm fire burning in the fireplace while preparing lunch; shopping for dinner at a local farmers market and preparing the meal together. Or, just discovering new things to do as a couple who are developing a new friendship, and the comfort of knowing in this busy world that there is someone in their life who cares.
