I Would Describe Myself As

I am a 72 year old man whose wife had a heart attack three years ago thus making me a Widower. It took me some time to accept the fact that my wife was gone.and even longer for me to realize that I had to move away from her memories. Our son, who lives in Gainesville, FL, realized my problem and helped me move to be closer to him. I am now here and, while I like the place,I don't know anybody and still need to find companionship. My background is relatively straight forward. I grew up in Michigan, went to college where I earned six degrees (not very usual) and went to work in the pharmaceutical industry. I started in research where I got very lucky and created one new drug after another - all of them being best sellers. Top management cleverly decided that I didn't really belong in research so they transferred me to management. If nothing else, it showed me that I liked working with people a lot more than working with test tubes. I bounced around for a while but then fate took a hand. It turned out that the last drug I developed was a best seller, but very difficult to make. So difficult that it was decided that I was the only person who really knew how to do it. I then bounced some more - this time between manufacturing and designing and building factories to make my drugs. When I finally got that straightened out, The powers that be gave me the job of running all of the corporations laboratories and factories around the world. This included over 120 different sites located in 80 countries. This kept me busy and kept several airlines very happy. I did this job for 12 years before I retired. On a personal level, I am a quiet,personable guy who generally gets along with everyone. I like water related activities including swimming, diving (both snorkel and scuba) and sailing. I eat out a lot now - primarily because even though I liked to cook, it is no fun when cooking for one. I live in a relatively small three bedroom house (which seems large only because I live there by myself and three cats left over from my wife). I am healthy and since both of my parents lived to within months of their 100th birthday, I fully expect to live at least as long and enjoy each and every minute of it. I also would like to do some traveling if I find the right travel companion. I have been in more than 80 countries, but didn't really see most of them and never got to taste the local cuisine. I don't want to revisit all 80 - - some I don't ever want to see again and others didn't appear to be worthy of a sightseeing tour. My companion will probably have some ideas of her own and, of course, these would automatically be added to the list. Also, my wife and I had the opportunity to visit several memorable resorts that I would like to see again. All in all, an optimistic plan and one that will probably never be fully completed. On the other hand, it will be fun to try. I have talked far too long but wanted potential travel companions (and general good companions the rest of the time) to get an understanding of what I am about in my retirement years. Anyone want to come along?
