Ich würde mich selbst beschreiben als

22 years ago I adopted my first son, and 7 years later my second. Before this I went to the opera, the theatre and dance concerts a LOT, gave dinner parties and hosted many friends in my Upper West Side apartment. I also biked all over the city (and across the country) did a lot of photography, traveled four times to the Middle East, and played classical guitar. At different points, I taught English to immigrants, was an assistant professor at Teachers College, published one or two articles a year and volunteered for a few human rights organizations. When I adopted, everything shifted to motherhood. Last year my older boy made me the grandmother of a gorgeous sweet baby girl; he lives with his new family in Vermont so I have learned the way to Route 89. My second son is a senior in high school, and currently we are preparing his college application.
For the last 14 years I have been working in a school in the Bronx that I helped to found. Most of our students and many of our teachers are immigrants or the children of immigrants. I am extremely proud of our school’s accomplishments.
This is not the life I envisioned when I graduated as a government major in 1969, but it’s probably better than many other outcomes I could have imagined. I live a pretty simple life; reading, good writing and music are still important to me. I spend much more page time than screen time. I have always been an optimistic person. I am looking for someone with stories to tell
