I'm a long-time divorced, independent person with two adult children and a happy, awesome new grandson. I work in a job I love, as a clinical social worker/adult therapist. It's really a vocation, not just a job. I have good, close friends and am by nature a loyal and dependable friend. My interests are many and varied;there aren't too many things I wouldn't be interested in learning more about. I love reading, writing and am in three book groups but I also love the natural world and being physically active.

I enjoy travel and wish I could do more of it, especially with a partner who is flexible and not "high maintenance". It doesn't have to be a big trip for me to get excited. I enjoy exploring areas nearby as well as afar as long as I can learn something and experience something new or revisit a place I've loved. I lived in England for a few months during college and would love to have a chance to live in another country again. One of my regrets is that I didn't join the Peace Corps after college and I'd still like to have some other kind of immersion experience in another culture.

I can't quite figure out how I got to be 62 because I feel young and I think and hope I have lots of life ahead. My sense of humor is good though more on the subtle than raucous side. I love to laugh and enjoy time with others and I also have a need for quiet,contemplative time.

I'm comfortable on my own and have a full, satisfying, interesting life. However, I'm ready to have another person in my life, to perhaps find a new relationship with a man in which we can both flourish.

An ideal first date would involve doing something together so that we could get to know each other informally. Going to an art gallery, the zoo, a coffee shop with music, the botanical gardens, etc. are some things that sound like a fun first date to me.

The most important qualities I look for are genuine kindness and thoughtfulness, flexibility and willingness to see different perspectives, and a person who is comfortable with who he is but is not stagnant. Honesty and the ability to communicate openly are essential.
